Pete's athletic ability, intelligence and performance are a family trait since both his father and half sister were also GMHRCH dogs trained and handled by Silverbrook Kennels.

Pete's hunt test performances and hunting are amazing, particularly since he experienced two severe accidents. The first accident, a fractured vertebrae and dislocated hip, occurred in November 1999, and required eight pins. The second accident, torn cruciate ligaments in a back leg, occurred in September 2000. Dr. Daniel Brehm, the SouthPaws Veterinary Center, orthopedic surgeon that performed three major operations related to these injuries, stated that Pete would not be able to take the rigors of training, hunt test competition or hunting again. In late 2001, after 20 months of careful and intense swimming therapy by his owner, Pete returned to rigors of training, hunt test competition and hunting with the same style, drive, and enthusiasm he had before his injuries. Pete earned his AKC MH title and most of his NAHRA senior points after his two severe accidents.

Since the spring of 1996, Pete has run and competed so consistently he has accumulated 1000 NAHRA lifetime points, is a member of the 1999 All American Hunting Retriever Team, has six NAHRA and AKC titles, and has qualified in a combination of 80 NAHRA, AKC and HRC hunt tests. Pete goes out to win every weekend.

Pete's hunting experience and abilities are equal to his hunt test performances. He has hunted waterfowl and upland birds since fall of 1996. In the past four years, Pete has averaged retrieving more than 100 waterfowl and upland game birds per year at various hunts in Canada, Virginia and Pennsylvania.

In addition to his competition career, Pete is a house dog and constant loyal companion of his owners. Pete is often used for training demonstrations at local elementary schools. He is calm and attentive in every day life and one of the most intelligent, athletic dogs I have produced and trained at Silverbrook Kennels. There are 5 Hall of Fame members in Pete's pedigree.
